This is an adapted spell of mine from another source:
This spell is to rid yourself of remnants of good or bad feelings for an ex-partner. It is meant to help you go forward with peace, so it would be a good idea to send thoughts of peace and love to the former partner at the end of this spell.
The best time to do this particular spell is during the waning Moon, or New Moon (done during this time, as you use the waning moon to move away or to draw away. for finishings and endings)
You will need:
Photograph of your ex-partner
Container suitably fire resistant and capable of saving the ashes.
Cypress or Pine
Ginger root
Red cloth or bag
Look inside yourself and pull any feelings of guilt/pain/negativity towards your ex-partner into one place. Feel it condence to a ball. Add to it any ties you feel that hold you there. "See" the ball grow, sort of like making a rubberband ball....everything holding you there goes to that ball.
At the same time, place the picture in the container and light it. Say the following, or something similar:
Let go my heart, leave me free
My life goes on, no pain for me
I shall move on, so shall this pass
As this picture burns to ash
As the picture burns, see the ball shrinking and fading.
Repeat your words until the picture has burnt out completely.
Now take the Cypress or Pine and the ginger root and hold them over your solar plexus, and/or wherever you visualized the ball. This is to draw out any residual negativity you may still harbor, known or unknown. (Cypress and Pine both promote cleansing and purifying, as well as new beginnings while banishing negativity. The ginger root adds power to the Pine or Cypress.) Allow the negativity to flow out of you to the Pine/Cypress. Finally, touch the Pine/Cypress to your forehead or third eye as a symbol that you have converted any negative feelings to good.
Wrap everything, to include the container with the ashes into the red bag or cloth.
As soon as you can, or as soon as is convenient, bury this far away from your home. Or, if you are fortunate enough to live near a river/running water, place the ashes into the bag with the Cypress/Pine and Ginger Root and throw them into the water. The water carrying your ties away.
