So, I was looking at the roses in my yard and I was thinking ooooooo some rose water would be nice. So, I thought, you know, I need to look up some recipe's for floral water....
This is the items you'll need:
Screwtop jar
distilled water
Grain alcohol
witch hazel
glycerin
strainer or cheese cloth...
some type of floral plant like
What I am going to use rose petals
other suggestions:
lavendar
orange blossom
citrus herbs like orange or lemon peels....
NOTE: Herbs infused in water will not keep, so use alcohol to preserve a stronger sent. A floral water can be made with a strong infusion, adding 20 percent by volume of a 90% proof alcohol (ethyl alcohol) or 30% by volume of a 60% proof alcohol such as vodka.
Now, I'm just going to make a weak tincture to use on my skin with the rose water.
So, I take my rose petals and loosely stick them on the bottom of the jar. Fill the jar half way up with, I'll probably use 120 proof vodka but you can also use the witch hazel. Cover it and then leave it in a dark place for the day. Then the next day and everyday afterwards for 3 weeks what I will do is shake the jar.
After the three weeks are done, I will take the cheese cloth and the dark jar, strain the herbs using the cheese cloth then pore the mixture into jar. Add more vodka then fill the rest of the jar up with distilled water. Shake that jar so it will mix well.
Here are some other recipes...
