Mabon. The Fall Equinox. The time when day and night become equal once again. Pronounced "MAH-bohn", the name itself comes from the Celtic God Maponos, who died each year and was reborn each Spring. What does this Sabbat mean to you??

Alright. so I'll start. To me: this is the time of year that evokes a sense of balance to me. At at time when day equals night. Life and death are both brought to bear and to mind. A time when we must think of our future at the end of the seasons of growth. Preparations for the coming winter, farms storing what they have reaped, we storing our memories of summer for the coming long sleep of nature, the cold of winter. A time of personal reflection; to look back on my growth of the past year, and my goals for the next turn of the wheel. A celebration of the summers growth and harvest and the bounties of what we worked so hard for. Learning from mistakes of the year that they may be avoided next turning. Giving thanks for the guidance and company of close friends during the past year, and for that to come.

DITTO! ;D I also hope to be attending an open circle this Sunday for Mabon. It's held by an organizition called FEDERATION of CIRLES andSOLITARIES, different traditions take turns performing the rituals and we have a potluck covered dinner beforehand! Lots of fun. I have herbs drying in my closet and gourds on the vine awaiting harvest. The late summer and fall flowers are showing their colors, the trees will soon follow. I am hoping for fantastic autumn colors this year! P.S. the Harvest Moon was this past week. She was beautiful and almost golden near the horizon. Fantastic. Have a good evening all! Love, nightwindchaser
