ok...i have a mild problem here....
i posted this question on a message board: is it alright to call myself a 'witch' even though i don't live as a witch or follow the traditional ways? i'm asking because i don't want to be called something that i may or may not be
the one answer i have received so far is: Why would you want to call yourself a Witch if you don't "live as a Witch or follow traditional ways"? I'm realy confused.
this annoys me.....why can't i call myself a witch if i 'feel' i'm a witch?? apparently, in order to be a witch you have to live as one and follow the traditional ways.
first, living as a witch is not possible in my home life...second, i found it hard to keep track of everything you need to do to live as a witch and third, is it wrong to for me to follow what i feel that i know for myself is right?

Let me first ask you this. What is it about yourself that you feel makes you a witch? And, what do YOU think a witch is?
Now, that being asked, why do you need to have the validation of others? By putting your question out there, it seems as though you are not very confident in who or what you may or may not be. The answers you are seeking from others must come from within first. You've answered your own questions.
Now, that is not to say that there are not a great MANY traditions out there that require a certain amount of training and education be completed before admittance to inner circles or courts. To those organizations, you may be in error or even presumptuous to call yourself a witch in their circles. However, it must also be pointed out that there can be a distinct difference between Witchcraft and Wicca. You can be a witch without being wiccan, and wiccan without being a witch. To answer that question of yourself, you must decide if you are following the path for purely spiritual reasons or not.
I'm not sure what you are saying by this
If you do not know what it means or takes to be a witch, then you do need to study about it more, or find a mentor to assist you. It shouldn't be confusing if it is something you feel to be right. Something is missing from that statement......how many sources are you trying to incorporate together?

i didn't want validation....it's that when i would tell someone what my beliefs are (which are wiccan beliefs) that they would immediately ask if i was a witch. i usually would answer no because i don't like labels.
darnet....i would continue with what i was thinking but for some reason i just can't come up with anything that would come out right.....i'll have to post more when i have a clear brain
