I understand the $$$ issues that arise using that standard. I was trained in much the same way. I have found a couple ways around that. One is to find small candles. There are those which are approximately 1/4 inch thick and about 3 inches long. Those work well, or make your own. The thing is that once you have concecrated and/or annointed a candle for a specific purpose, it makes it fairly useless for any other spell. One thought is that if you don't use the candle completely, melting it down may be alright if you go by the thought that the fire cleanses the wax.
Generally, I try not to reuse my candles. I don't do enough candle spells in a month to warrant going through that much. And my husband and I make new ones instead of buying them.

to me it would depend on what type candles your talking about .tapers i tend not to reuse. you can save them up and dip them in salt to ground and than melt them down and reuse, mix a tiny bit of sage oil in them to clense them of any prior residual energy if you feel the need. in this day and age where for the most part we can go buy candles at will i would see where one would think it easy to get a new candle for each purpose.but i would have to say in a by gone era where items one possesed were scarce i dare think candles were used for muti purpose. they make knob candles where you can use each knob for a specific intent as well ,now the large jar candles i use for multy purpose, you can pick them up in the store for as low 1 each

i too use the small candles that jadedsage was talking about. with those i have found that my biggest problem was getting candle sticks to hold them. i found these styrofoam-esque disk things that will hold them in place in a larger candle stick. i found them at a. c. moore.
good luck!

Good morning! Perhaps you could try using Plaster of Paris or clay and then paint? It could be fun! Nightwindchaser
